Laser Skin Resurfacing Atlanta

Laser Skin Treatment

Laser skin resurfacing can improve the tone and texture of your skin without surgery! Laser technologies have revolutionized the medical field, including plastic surgery. Laser skin treatments can precisely target specific skin conditions, such as fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, sun damage, and other common concerns. Killingsworth Center for Plastic Surgery offers advanced laser skin resurfacing and CO2 fractional laser treatments to patients in Atlanta, GA.

WHAT IS LASER SKIN RESURFACING?

Laser-based technology allows Dr. Killingsworth and his skin care team to address various signs of aging, as well as common skin problems, with precise accuracy. Most superficial skin conditions can be corrected by removing layers of damaged skin with laser skin resurfacing. Lasers work by heating specific layers of the skin where flaws occur without damaging the higher layers of skin. The heat from the laser destroys damaged skin and stimulates collagen production. Collagen is a protein that occurs in the skin, keeping it smooth and young. The production of collagen is part of the healing process; this can promote new skin development, as fresh skin is created that is free of cosmetic flaws and imperfections.*

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LASER SKIN RESURFACING?*

Laser skin treatment is a non-surgical procedure that can achieve transformative results without surgery. Dr. Killingsworth and his skin care professionals recommend laser skin resurfacing to treat:

  • Scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Blotches caused by sun damage
  • Acne scarring
  • Blemishes
  • Uneven skin texture and pigmentation

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR LASER SKIN RESURFACING?

One of the most important aspects of laser skin resurfacing is having realistic expectations for your procedure. Not all signs of aging can be treated. An evaluation by our skin care professionals can help you make an informed decision about undergoing laser skin treatment. If we determine that laser skin resurfacing cannot achieve your cosmetic goals, we may recommend facial surgery or dermal fillers and injectables.*

HOW IS LASER SKIN RESURFACING PERFORMED?

Laser skin resurfacing is performed in our office, so you go home the same day. You should have someone drive you to and from your appointment. First, a local anesthetic is injected into the treatment area to minimize discomfort. A special device is used to apply laser energy to the treatment area in small bursts. If the entire face is being treated, the appointment should take approximately two hours. Treating smaller areas of the face usually takes forty-five minutes to an hour.*

After the treatment, your skin is red and slightly swollen. A special ointment will be given to keep the skin clean. You should avoid exposure to the sun until your skin is fully healed. For the first three days, your skin with itch and tingle. This indicates that new skin is being produced. Full healing takes up to three weeks.*

WHAT IS CO2 FRACTIONAL LASER (SMARTXIDE® DOT CO2 LASER) TREATMENT?

CO2 lasers use a high energy beam to create a controlled burn of the deeper layers of skin. This controlled burn stimulates the production of collagen, minimizes dark spots from sun damage or aging, and can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Because the laser acts on the deeper layers of skin, results are often more effective than traditional resurfacing therapies such as peels or dermabrasion. The SmartXide® DOT laser uses a fractional amount of energy compared to traditional CO2 laser therapy, resulting in less pain and downtime, but still giving many of the same benefits.*

After applying a topical numbing agent, the laser is applied to the skin in a series of tiny dots in a grid-like pattern, leaving surrounding skin intact. This allows for faster healing, less pain, and less downtime than traditional CO2 laser techniques. The grid can be adjusted based on your specific skin needs. Overall healing time can take 2 to 4 weeks, with full results seen 2 to 3 months after the procedure.*

HOW MUCH DOES LASER SKIN RESURFACING IN ATLANTA COST?

The cost of laser skin resurfacing at Killingsworth Center for Plastic Surgery is based on the size of the treatment area and the extent of the procedure. After your evaluation, we can give you a total cost. We accept cash, personal checks, credit cards, CareCredit®, and Alphaeon® Credit financing.
