Neck Lift Atlanta
Neck Lift Surgery
Undergoing neck lift surgery at Killingsworth Center for Plastic Surgery can restore a smoother, more youthful-looking neckline. Aging, changes in weight, lifestyle factors, and genetics can leave you with loose skin, excess fat, and muscle banding on your neck that contributes to an older-looking appearance. Dr. Christopher Killingsworth and his plastic surgery team are proud to offer neck lift surgery to help patients address the signs of facial aging. If you have fat, sagging skin, or muscle bands around the neck, then consider undergoing a neck lift with our Atlanta plastic surgeons.*
WHAT IS NECK LIFT SURGERY?
The neck area is often one of the first places where aging appears. The delicate skin and anatomical structure of the neck make it an ideal place for fine lines, wrinkles, stubborn fat, and loose skin to develop. Neck lift surgery (sometimes referred to as platysmaplasty) can remove excess fat and skin to sculpt a younger-looking, toned neckline.*
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A NECK LIFT?*
Necklift surgery is recommended for patients with:
- Loose flaps of skin that extend from under the chin to the top or middle of the neck
- Sagging jowls
- Muscle banding in the neck area
- Fatty bulges in the neck area

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR NECK LIFT SURGERY?
Dr. Christopher Killingsworth and his plastic surgery team will determine if you are a good candidate for neck lift surgery during your consultation. This procedure may be right for patients between forty and eighty years old who have:
- Adequate skin elasticity in the neck area
- Loose skin under the jawline
- Double or triple chin
- Excess skin and fat on the neck
- Skin that is damaged by sun exposure
HOW IS NECK LIFT SURGERY PERFORMED?
Your necklift surgery lasts approximately two to three hours, and general anesthesia is used for the procedure. In some cases, your neck lift surgeon can improve the neck area with liposuction alone. If your neck lift procedure requires removing excess skin, your plastic surgeon will place the incisions in locations that allow access to the soft tissue while ensuring that scarring is as inconspicuous as possible. Your neck lift surgeon may suture the neck muscles before pulling the skin tight over the area and trimming the excess skin.*
For the first three days after your neck lift surgery, you can expect to have pain, swelling, bruising, and tenderness in your neck. You may be advised to not turn your neck for the first few days to keep the soft tissues in place. You may be prescribed pain medication and antibiotics. You will need to take two weeks off from work and avoid exercise and strenuous activities for four to six weeks. You may have swelling for one to two months, at which time you should begin to see the full results of the neck lift procedure.*
